ROLE OVERVIEW
The Baker is responsible for the preparation and production of baked goods at Interlude, ensuring consistency, quality, and presentation in line with the venue’s standards. This role combines technical baking skills with attention to detail, contributing to both daily production and the evolving identity of the menu.
As part of Tomism, the Baker contributes through craft, care, and a sensitivity to ingredients, process, and experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a range of products, including breads, pastries, cakes, and specialty items, in accordance with recipes and production standards.
- Manage daily production schedules to ensure timely availability of products for service.
- Measure, mix, shape, proof, and bake products with consistency and precision.
- Monitor product quality, including texture, flavour, and appearance, and adjust processes as required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic baking and kitchen environment at all times.
- Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards are followed.
- Assist with recipe development, seasonal menu updates, and product innovation where required.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify management of ordering requirements.
- Receive and store deliveries, ensuring correct handling and stock rotation (FIFO).
- Minimise waste and contribute to efficient use of ingredients and resources.
- Assist with packaging, display, and presentation of baked goods where required.
- Support general kitchen operations and collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Previous experience in a bakery or commercial kitchen required.
- Knowledge of baking techniques, fermentation, and dough handling (required).
- Food Safety Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid working rights in Australia.
- Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and public holidays.
